Terms of use

Please read these terms before using Sharia Check.

What Sharia Check is

Sharia Check is an automated screening tool. It compares the wording of documents you upload with selected AAOIFI Shari'ah Standards and common UK practice, and reports where the wording appears to follow or depart from them.

What it is not

The report is not a fatwa, a Sharia ruling, legal advice, financial advice or a recommendation to take or refuse any product. It does not assess whether a product is suitable for you or whether your provider is authorised. It can be wrong, and it does not know what your provider's Sharia board has approved or why.

Before making a decision, speak to your provider, a qualified scholar, and a regulated mortgage adviser or solicitor. Home purchase plans in the UK are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Using the service

  • Only upload documents you are entitled to share for this purpose.
  • Do not try to overload, probe or misuse the service. We limit how many checks can be started from one connection.
  • The service is provided free, as it is, without any guarantee that it will be available or error-free.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on a report. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law of England and Wales.

Not affiliated

Sharia Check is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by AAOIFI or by any finance provider. The standards are referred to so that findings can be checked against a published source.

Governing law
